Police in Kano state have arrested one Isah Musa, 30, for allegedly trying to kidnap his neighbor who is also a friend of his father.

This was announced by state police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa on Friday in Kano.

“Around 8:00 am on July 31, 2022, a resident of Makadi Village, Garko Local Government Area Kano State, filed a complaint.

“The complainant said he was contacted by telephone and threatened to pay N100 million or he or one of his children would be abducted.

“They negotiated and later agreed on N2 million,” the spokesman said.

Haruna-Kuyawa said that the Command’s Deputy Police Commissioner, DCP Abubakar Zubairu, ordered a team of detectives led by SP Aliyu Auwal, O/C Anti-Kidnapping Squad, to track down and arrest the perpetrator(s).

“Following credible information and ongoing follow-up, the team located and arrested the suspect, one Isah Musa, a 30-year-old man who is a neighbor of the applicant,” he said.

He revealed that during preliminary inquiries, the suspect disclosed that the victim was his neighbor and a friend of his father’s.

“He conspired with his friend, who lives far out of state, to communicate on his behalf,” Haruna-Kuyawa said.

The police spokesman added that the suspect will be brought to justice once the investigation is complete.
