‘Our football has gone top down’ – Fans cheer on Super Eagles after loss to Portugal

The Selecao proved too much, but fans believe they could have done better

Fans took to social media to take to the Super Eagles after Thursday’s disappointing 4-0 loss to Portugal.

Nigeria played Portugal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in a preparatory game for the Selecao ahead of the mundial which begins on 20 November.

The Super Eagles were expected to put up a good fight against a Portuguese side that Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t have. They flattered, however, to deceive.

Nigeria’s game was mostly incoherent, they offered very little in attack and dominated in midfield. Bruno Fernandes scored a brace in the first half to give Portugal a comfortable cushion.

Emmanuel Dennis had a chance to put some respect on the goal line but he shook his lines off the penalty spot.

Two late goals from Joao Mario and Goncalo Ramos gave Portugal a deserved 4-0 win.

Fans took to social media to share their displeasure with the result.
